- The Glasgow Coma Scale
A 2001 study http://www.vin.com/Members/SearchDB/Journals/Scanned/JA020000/JA017751.htm
found that the modified Glasgow Coma Scale is a useful index for prediction of outcome in dogs with head trauma. The clinician simply assigns a numerical value for the patient in three categories (motor activity, brain stem reflexes, and level of consciousness) to obtain a total score which is prognostic in over 50 percent of cases.
