COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will cover the basics of triaging and treating the common injured native wildlife with which a private practitioner might be presented. This would include ethical and legal considerations, restraint/immobilization techniques, how to focus the physical examination of the wildlife patient and the basics of initial emergency treatment.

At the end of this course, participants will be better able to:

1. Understand the legal and ethical implications of working with wildlife
2. Understand the common scenarios for why wildlife could present in your clinic, divided into the major groups (birds, mammals, reptiles).
3. Be able to handle, restrain and anesthetize the common wildlife patients.
4. Administer initial emergency treatment for wildlife patients.
5. Recognize available resources and groups that can offer you and your clinic support and information once you have administered initial medical treatment.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course.
