Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience in your CE course, we request you attend a Practice Session prior to the first Real Time Session. Please arrive promptly at the start time; each Practice Session is up to 1 hour in length. For more information, please visit the CE Practice Area.

*The instructor for this course will be using audio which will require you to have a headset or speakers to listen. If you have any concerns regarding your computer's audio capabilities, please be sure to attend one of the Practice Sessions.

Level and Prerequisites: This basic course course is geared toward veterinary practice managers, owners and supervisors who wish to take their dentistry practice to the next level. They will learn ways to improve client compliance and education, marketing, pricing, and staff training in regards to the dental component of their practices.
VSPN CE Course: Open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians/support staff. This course has been RACE approved for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists. This course has been submitted to VHMA for CVPM credits. (RACE # 22-19104, VHMA # XX-XX). VHMA approved course ID 15-19

Course Description:
Almost every patient that comes through the front door of your practice is a potential dental patient. Statistics show that over 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over 2 years of age have some type of dental disease. However many practices struggle with filling the dental table. This course will give you ideas and methods to not only fill the tables but to offer outstanding dental care for your patients and to create strong bonds with your clients.

About the Instructor:
Mary L. Berg, BS, LATG, RVT, VTS (Dentistry) received her B.S. in Biology/Microbiology from South Dakota State University, her A.S. in Laboratory Animal Science from Redlands Community College, and her A.S. in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College. She is a Charter member of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians and received her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Dentistry in June 2006. Mary is currently serving as the treasurer of the AVDT and the AVDS and is a board member for the Kansas Veterinary Technician Association (KVTA) and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). Mary is also a board moderator for the Veterinary Support Personnel Network. Her memberships include the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians, NAVTA, KVTA and the American Veterinary Dental Society. Mary worked in research for over 13 years, specializing in on products aimed at improving oral health of companion animals and continues to work with companies to evaluate the efficacy of their products. In addition to her research background, she was the practice manager and dental specialist at a general practice for over 7 years, taught veterinary technology for 2 years and is currently the president of Beyond the Crown Veterinary Education, a veterinary dental consulting service. She has authored or co-authored over 60 publications including publications in the Journal of Dental Research, the Veterinary Technician Journal, DVM 360, Veterinary Team Brief and the NAVTA journal and has been a speaker and wet lab instructor at numerous state and national conferences.

Tuition: $120 ($108 early bird special if enrolled by January 6, 2016)

* Students currently enrolled in and taking at least 2 classes or 5 units at an AVMA accredited or CAAHT approved Veterinary Technician Program may be eligible to receive a 50% discount off the regular rate for this course (upon verification of student status).

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
  3. Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration. To ensure that all information received is secure and correct, please do not enroll for a course on behalf of another individual.
