Thoracolumbar dorsolateral laminectomy with osteotomy of the spinous process in 14 dogs
This surgical technique offers an alternative approach to the thoracolumbar spine and spinal cord by a modified dorsal laminectomy that preserves the paraspinal muscle integrity on the contralateral side.
Nutritional supplementation in cases of canine cognitive dysfunction - A clinical trial
The trial was conducted in a clinical context and involved 20 UK veterinary practices, giving geographical spread across the country. The duration of the trial was 56 days, including a baseline period of 7 days and a post trial period of 7 days. There was a significant difference between the treated and the placebo groups in relation to improvement in their scores for disorientation, changes in interaction and house soiling behaviour at day 21, day 28, and day 42. These results support the clinical practice of nutritional supplementation as a valuable component of the therapeutic approach in cases of canine cognitive dysfunction.
Lomustine and prednisone as a first-line treatment for dogs with multicentric lymphoma: 17 cases (2004-2005)
Results suggest that concurrent treatment with lomustine and prednisone was well tolerated in dogs with multicentric lymphoma, but findings did not support the use of this combination for first-line treatment of affected dogs.
Radio frequency identification (RFID) applied to surgical sponges
Use of gauze sponges that have been embedded with passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tags presents a high probability of reducing or eliminating instances of gossypiboma, or retained surgical sponge. Experiments performed by placing RFID-labeled sponges within an animal and removing them have demonstrated that tags are at least partially readable inside the body cavity and fully readable once removed, suggesting the possibility of an automated sponge count system pending further development of this technology.

Loan repayment warning
Hey New Grads-If you have sub and unsub loans about to start repayment, you want to know this...Just because your loan payments have been set up on direct debit from your account, it does NOT mean your first payment will automatically be deducted on time!
