Primary Orthostatic Tremor in Great Danes
Orthostatic tremor (OT) differs from other tremors in its clinical and electrophysiologic characteristics. First, tremors can be abolished by simply lifting the standing patient off the ground, as was observed in the 2 dogs of our study, and when walking, tremors disappeared from the nonweight bearing limb during the swing phase of the gait cycle.
Antimicrobial Drug Use in Veterinary Medicine
Recognizing the importance of antimicrobial resistance and the need for veterinarians to aid in efforts for maintaining the usefulness of antimicrobial drugs in animals and humans, the Board of Regents of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine charged a special committee with responsibility for drafting this position statement regarding antimicrobial drug use in veterinary medicine. Specific means by which the veterinary profession can promote stewardship of this valuable resource are presented and discussed in this document.

These results confirm current recommendations that treatment of acidemia in sick calves with or without diarrhea should focus on intravenous or PO administration of a fluid containing sodium and a high effective strong ion difference.
Use of Lithium Dilution and Pulse Contour Analysis Cardiac Output Determination in Anaesthetized Horses: A Clinical Evaluation
This method of pulse contour analysis is a relatively noninvasive and reliable way of monitoring continuous cardiac output in the horse under anaesthesia.


When Is Back Surgery An Emergency? Does Diffuse Loss Of Contrast Always Mean Cord Swelling And Should These Dogs Have Surgery?
In a lot of the dogs I see with loss of contrast over several spaces, CT shows a focal compression due to the disc extrusion along with more diffuse epidural compression. At surgery, this diffuse epidural compression is typically a hematoma. So I don't think diffuse loss of contrast always means cord swelling.
Student Loan Consolidation Information
There's been a change in student lending policy which will allow virtually every student attending a FFEL school to complete an in-school consolidation. Previously, only students with Direct Loans were eligible to complete an in-school consolidation.
