  • Adult cockatiels (Nymphicus hollandicus) at maintenance are more sensitive to diets containing excess vitamin A than to vitamin A-deficient diets.
Adult cockatiels at maintenance were more susceptible to Vitamin A toxicity than to Vitamin A deficiency and concentrations greater than or equal to 3000 micrograms Vitamin A/kg diet can cause toxicity. It is possible that disturbances in Vitamin A nutrition contribute to the widespread incidence of behavioral problems reported in companion birds.

Eight Cases of Demodicosis Caused by a Long-Bodied Demodex species (1997-2002)
Evaluation of these cases suggested this canine demodicosis is clinically distinct from D. canis demodicosis. It often has low numbers of mites on deep skin scrapings, is more common in adult (mean age at diagnosis 6.1 years) terriers, especially West Highland White Terriers, and appears associated with other dermatological diseases and a prior history of immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory drug use.

    Old Cat With PDA?
Anything you do with sedatives or anesthetic agents that reduce systemic vascular resistance will reduce the amount of left-to-right shunting, which is a good thing -- so from that standpoint, you're fine, but most of those types of agents also reduce contractility.

Endless Sedation on Domitor; Antisedan IV vs IM
This is the second time I have had a dog with apparently irreversible Domitor sedation. Neither was particularly anxiety-provoking, but it's kind of awkward trying to explain to owners why their dog is still sedate after I promised we'd use the "reversible" drug.
