New Sections in the Image Library
The Image Library is continuing to grow by leaps and pixels! Take a few minutes to browse all the great images in the Cardiology, Dermatology, Parasitology, Radiology and Urology/Nephrology sections of the Image Library.

Compare your case to a known diagnosis, see examples of a particular lesion or finding, and learn what certain conditions look like. The Image Library lives in the Multimedia section of the Main Library and can be reached through any Specialty Center page.

New Feature On The VIN Front Page
In response to VINner requests, now when you find a Journal or Boards Clinical Update on the VIN Front Page that piques your interest, you can click on the small icon at the end of the title to open that item in a new window! Try it -- you'll probably like it -- either way -- let us know: Feedback@vin.com .
Note:
Clicking on the title itself will still replace the current window as it did before.

Bumping Into Your Colleagues? Log Out!
If you work in a multi-doctor practice, you want to make sure you are accessing and posting under your own name so you can enjoy your own personalized settings and MyStuff.

Logging out will also keep you and your colleagues from accidentally impersonating each other. This hasn't always been an easy task.

The solution is to set http://Beta.vin.com as the way you enter VIN.

The new VIN security system we are testing on Beta.vin.com has a log out function on every page as well as on the secondary security page.

Please give http://Beta.vin.com a good work out.

BETA.VIN.COM
- where cool VINners hang out!
We promise that everything we ask you to test on http://Beta.vin.com has gone through rigorous testing by many VINners -- and will not cause you to experience the headaches that can come with early versions of software.

Beyond being the first to enjoy new features that will enhance your VIN experience -- your feedback and suggestions will help the VIN Wizards put the final touches on new VIN features and speed moving them to http://WWW.vin.com .

And as always, please let us know if you find any problems using either http://WWW.vin.com or http://Beta.vin.com.

Bats in the bedroom, bats in the belfry: Reanalysis of the rationale for rabies postexposure prophylaxis
Human rabies acquired through bedroom exposure to a bat while sleeping and without recognized contact is rare. Conversely, such exposures are not uncommon in the population, and the resources required for associated 1990s to offer rabies postexposure prophylaxis (RPEP) are orders of magnitude higher than those required for most interventions that are considered to be reasonable. Current RPEP recommendations related to occult bat contact should be reconsidered.

A review of sentinel lymph node evaluation and the need for its incorporation into veterinary oncology
The sentinel lymph node (SLN) is a reliably sensitive and specific indicator of the actual extent of metastatic disease in a patient. Its assessment increases accuracy in patient staging, thus ensuring that patients who may have been staged without nodal involvement in the absence of proper SLN evaluation will now receive the benefit of appropriate therapy.

Proteomic identification and profiling of canine lymphoma patients
These markers in conjunction with the bioinformatic algorithm provide the foundation for the development of novel veterinary diagnostic assays (either in isolation, e.g., antibody-based methodologies or in combination, for the detection of lymphoma). These markers have the potential to monitor response to chemotherapy.

Ureteral jets (explanation and video)
I don't know what happened here because the client is usually very good about coming back when told and she did not come back in the requested 7 days but 14. So, she only had Clavamox for 1 week but we did recheck the urine again (via cysto). U/A did come back with rod bacteria and SpG of 1.008 (RBC's and WBC's were WNL). Covering vet put her on Baytril for 2 weeks and we rechecked a U/A and culture and continued Baytril for another week while waiting for culture results. U/A was WNL, culture was negative. Saw her again 4/23/09 for incontinence.

Sedating a rodeo bull
I'm still alive and have all my parts! I called the rodeo people and asked them to have their veterinarian call me to establish a treatment plan. Since I work primarily on small animals I wanted to confer with someone who actually knew the temperment of the stock. I never heard back from them, but it was great to have all the reference information supplied by Becky.

Intranasal Bordetella vaccine was given subcutaneously: When can I give it correctly?
I'm assuming any time would be fine, but are there any ideas about whether the previous vaccine gave a response?
