VIN -- the Video! Are you getting the most from your VIN membership?
With so much information and so many tools to choose from, none of us know everything there is to know about using VIN. VIN's two primary functions are: - To bring us together as colleagues
- To make accessing information and tools that help us practice fun and easy.
The VIN How-To Videos showcase the main features and functions VINners enjoy most. New VINners will appreciate the "jump start" and long-time VINners are guaranteed to learn a few new tricks to help get the most out of your VIN membership. VIN How-to Movies:
Cardiac Auscultation and Phonocardiography
Cardiac auscultation is one of the most widely used diagnostic techniques in veterinary medicine. But it is so hard to "perfect" alone. No more! Cardiac Auscultation and Phonocardiography in Dogs, Horses and Cats by Clarence Kvart and Jens Häggström makes it easy. It's on VIN and it's FREE! To get the most from the sound files, please use earphones or buds and not your computer's speaker. Browse the VIN Library to view the rest of the growing collection of full-text online books!
Heat-Related Illness Resources
Pets are just as sensitive to high temperatures and too much fun in the sun as their human counterparts. Several recent VINner discussions address the management of heat stroke patients: Help your clients keep their furry family members safe and cool with these resources from Veterinary Partner!

Ocular manifestations of natural canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (Ehrlichia canis): a retrospective study of 90 cases
In the majority of dogs, ocular abnormalities were noticed in conjunction with other canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME) induced clinical signs. In 30/90 dogs, ophthalmic signs were the sole presenting complaint. Bilateral uveitis was significantly more common than unilateral uveitis, and anterior significantly more common than posterior uveitis or panuveitis. In addition, corneal ulceration, necrotic scleritis, low tear production, and orbital cellulitis were seen.
Cetirizine in horses: pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics following repeated oral administration
Cetirizine, in doses of 0.2-0.4mg/kg bw administered at 12h intervals, exhibits favourable pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties without causing visible side effects. The drug may therefore be a useful antihistamine in equine medicine.
Use of dopamine in acute renal failure
Due to the potential side effects of low-dose dopamine therapy, the results from large human trials, and the lack of information in veterinary medicine, the use of dopamine for treatment of ARF in veterinary patients should be further evaluated.
Evidence-based wound management: a systematic review of therapeutic agents to enhance granulation and epithelialization
Based on the literature identified in the authors' review, there is insufficient evidence to make a recommendation for or against any of the topical wound agents or procedures studied.

What about ProMeris?
I would like to know if there is anything new on the board, since June, about this (metaflumizone) product. Where are the MOA, pharmacokinetic, efficacy and safety data?
Transporting goldfish by car
A client is going to be moving from New York to Atlanta over a two day period and would like to know how best to transport her 5-6 year old goldfish. The move will be via car.
Dystocia guidelines
Recent grad here with basically no experience in small animal parturition/dystocia management (medical or surgical). I know this may sound crazy but it's true. I've been working for almost 3 months, taking emergency call for the past 6 weeks or so, and have yet to deal with this in the real world and didn't see it in any practical form at school either. Here I am on emergency tonight just waiting for a 3 a.m. dog-in-labor call.
Institutional animal care and use committee training
I am working with a research facility primarily using domestic livestock species. I am looking for some CE in this area. I have plenty of clinical experience here, but need help with regulations and rules.
