Still In School or Decades Out of School...VIN Gives You The Edge!
If you're finding you don't have enough shelf space for all the books you need to get through anatomy class or you just need a quick review before surgery, visit the Anatomy and Pathology section of the VIN Student Center!

Thanks to the continuous efforts of the VIN community, the Student Center has grown into a resource to serve all VINners.

Special thanks to the following for sharing these resources:

Use MyToolbox to get help, search the VIN Library or open the VINdex menu.

E-mail to Feedback@vin.com if you'd like to contribute to the Student Center and and don't forget to share your VIN experience on your school message boards.

Emergency Medicine Specialty Center to the Rescue!
Thanks to the efforts of the VIN community and the Consultants and Associate Editors from the emergency medicine folder, the Emergency Medicine Specialty Center is ready to start helping you save lives and keep you company during those long graveyard shifts. Now the most relevant information is gathered in one place. Get quick access to blood administration guidelines, help with managing poison emergencies and more.

The Emergency Medicine Specialty Center can be found in the Specialty and Species area of the VIN Library and on the About Page of the Emergency Medicine folder in the VIN message boards. Keep your eyes peeled for more new information centers coming soon!

But now they live in a new home. MyStuff version 1.5.4 has an all new interface.

The new MyVIN on www.vin.com also includes Password Vault -- the antidote for Password Hell!

No more remembering what site to visit and what username and password to use. Enter them once and your Password Vault remembers this information for many of your journal subscriptions and organization memberships.

A review of published reports regarding zoonotic pathogen infection in veterinarians
Our review indicated that veterinarians had an increased risk of infection with a number of zoonotic pathogens. It also suggested that veterinarians may inadvertently serve as biological sentinels for emerging pathogens and could potentially spread zoonotic pathogens to their families, community members, and the animals for which they provide care.

Comparison of laser lithotripsy and cystotomy for the management of dogs with urolithiasis
No significant differences were found in the required resources or complications associated with laser lithotripsy, compared with cystotomy, for removal of uroliths from the lower portions of the urinary tract of dogs.

Puppy with hypospadias
The owner does not want the penis amputated but is interested in simply "making a prepuce" around it if possible to make him look "more normal" -- I do think this is possible after having examined the dog.

Fractures in two kittens
On very gentle palpation of their hind limbs including their pelvis, they cried out in pain; especially prevalent along their long bones. Flexion and extension at various joints elicited mild discomfort indicated by increasing their respiratory rate. Pain medication was administered.

Is annual Lyme testing really necessary?
Why are we testing annually in the first place? Are there any studies that show a real benefit to our patients?
