From Paul: MyStuff and the Public Side of VIN.
MyStuff added to MyVIN If you search the VIN database, you'll note that there is a new "Add to MyStuff" link associated with each search result. If you look at the top of your search result list, you'll also notice there is an "Add This Search Result to MyStuff" link that will let you save the actual search result I am EXCITED about MyStuff. I predict the real power of MyStuff, we are yet to recognize. THIS IS EXCITING! Currently, the Add to MyStuff link is only available from the search page. If you wish to add ANY other links (VIN or not) you can do so from within MyVIN > Stuff > MyStuff by clicking on the ADD button, copying the link into the ADD STUFF form and saving it. You can use the MyStuff tool to organize your links within folders and even move between folders and create subfolders to help you organize in more layers. When you wish to review your saved information, look for it in MyVIN > Stuff > MyStuff. Soon you'll find the "Add to MyStuff" link on many more documents. What's more, you'll be able to save text notes and documents of any type and organize them and even ultimately share them. Please let us know what you think as you start to use MyStuff. The public side of VIN is changing! In a continuing effort to improve the VIN community for all who use it, www.vin.com has undergone a face lift. Take a sneak peek at the new public side of VIN!
Welcome to Abbott Animal Health, the newest folder participant in the Vet Industry message board!
We're excited by the knowledge and support that Abbott Animal Health will bring to the VIN community. Please take a moment to welcome our newest addition to the Vet Industry message board. Remember to post your questions about the company's products. (While you're in the industry folders, check out all of the other companies that are willing and able to answer your product questions!) A Note from Paul about Industry on VIN: As a result of the recent rapid rise in the number of industry folders on VIN, a few have written to ask if VIN has changed its position regarding independence from industry. Rest assured that nothing has changed. VIN remains committed to the VIN Policies on Commercialism. We all benefit from increased communication and access between colleagues in practice, academia, and industry. Facilitating this communication is our goal. We are pleased that more of our colleagues in industry are recognizing this and joining the discussion.

Altered oxidant-antioxidant profile in canine mammary tumours
This study suggests that upregulation of antioxidants induced by lipid peroxidation confers a selective growth advantage to tumour cells over their adjacent normal counterparts.
Phenotypic and Genotypic Characterisation of Pasteurella multocida Isolated from Pigs at Slaughter in New Zealand
Establishment of species-specific, capsular, and toxin PCR assays allowed the rapid screening of isolates of P. multocida, while serotyping provided an additional tool for epidemiological and tracing purposes.

The current clinical, historical, and diagnostic findings and therapeutic response in idiopathic headshaking in horses are summarised in this paper.
Acute and chronic gas bubble lesions in cetaceans stranded in the United kingdom
Hepatic gas-filled cavitary lesions (0.2-6.0 cm diameter) involving approximately 5-90% of the liver volume were found in four Risso's dolphins, three common dolphins, a Blainville's beaked whale, and a harbour porpoise. Histopathologic examination of the seven dolphin cases with gross liver cavities revealed variable degrees of pericavitary fibrosis, microscopic, intrahepatic, spherical, nonstaining cavities (typically 50-750 micrometers in diameter) consistent with gas emboli within distended portal vessels and sinusoids and associated with hepatic tissue compression, hemorrhages, fibrin/organizing thrombi, and foci of acute hepato-cellular necrosis.

Metacam Dosing/Dispensing
Clinical studies and anecdotal reports of Metacam use in cats suggest the following protocol may be safe and effective for long term treatment of chronic pain ...
Clients Want Us To Stay Late, Open Early, Or Be Open Just For Them
For things like boarding and picking up meds, I used to tell clients we closed a half hour earlier. In other words if we closed at 5PM, we'd tell them 4:30. I hate waiting after hours for boarders to be picked up and I also used to hate the irate call about a client getting there "just 5 minutes after we closed". So, we'd tell them a 1/2 hour earlier and we knew that when we left at 5PM we'd given the client every chance to make it.
Palliative Care Using Doxo For Dog With Metastatic Hemangiosarcoma? Protocol For Doxorubicin
Just saw an old dog today, that we had diagnosed months ago with HSA (CD31+) everywhere: spleen, epaxial muscles, scapula, large intrathoracic mass pushing the heart to the right side, etc. I was at that point hoping that a cycle of chemo would make him live through the holiday season. The dog is doing wonderfully well (and still has hair!), and the thing is in PR (I amost wrote nCR!). He has an Hct of 43%. It's got to be one of those Christmas miracles.
Older Iguana: Anthelmintic Doses, Future Euthanasia Considerations
Benzimidazoles often cause a heteropenia, and 100mg/kg will do so fairly reliably. I usually start at 25 mg/kg. Although it may not cause clinical problems, it probably doesn't help if the animal is trying to fight a bacterial infection.
