Bye-bye Baby Teeth
Retained deciduous teeth can cause overcrowding, malocclusion and periodontal disease. Jan Bellows, DAVDC, DABVP has provided a visual how-to on a Technique for Extracting Persistent Deciduous Teeth. Check it out and post your feedback on the message boards. And don't miss Dr. Bellows' The Smile Book, IV, (which will show you how to complete dental charts) and Dental Morphs, also available in the VIN Library. Want to test your dental knowledge? Dr. Bellows presents regular Dental Brain Teasers. Try your hand with the current case or review past cases. Come on and join the fun! Thanks, Jan, for these great additions to VIN's growing Multimedia collection!
About Those 'About This Folder' Pages...
A little birdy told us you'd like to be able to access your favorite links, consultant profiles and other resources on the 'About this Folder' pages without having to go to the Message Boards to find them. We thought that was a great idea so we added all of the 'About this Folder' pages to their own special page in the VIN Library. If you have any bright ideas or suggestions, don't leave it up to the little birdy...send them to Feedback@vin.com! E-mail to Feedback@vin.com if you'd like to contribute to the Student Center and don't forget to share your VIN experience on your school message boards.

Birth defects in offspring of female veterinarians
In a multiple logistic regression controlling for the potential confounders, the study showed an increased risk of birth defects in offspring of female veterinarians after occupational exposure to high dose of radiation (taking more than 10 x-ray films per week) and an increase risk of birth defects after occupational exposure to pesticides at least once per week in veterinarians exclusively working in small animal practice.
Nutrition, feeding, and behavior of fish
Fish are also unique among vertebrates in their ability to absorb minerals not only from their diets but also from water through their gills and skin.
Captive invertebrate nutrition
Although the exact nutritional requirements of many invertebrate species are unknown, most commonly kept species are quite adaptable and seem to thrive on very basic diets. Veterinarians are often called upon to devise diets for captive invertebrates in research, display, and production facilities.

Facial fold dermatitis pictures
All the previous vets have advised the owner that the problem is surgical and I agree. However I advised that I would "VIN" Mack to see if there is anything else. Also, one vet recommended to just fix the eye, but the problem is certainly not limited to the upper right fold, so I cannot see this as helping much. Suprisingly, the dog seems quite comfortable, he lets me manipulate the folds without complaint and there is no smell, so they may be controlling the problem better than they think, however they are tired of the chronic care.
Prednisone dose chart
I prefer prednisolone for cats, as some cats cannot convert prednisone to its active form. Second, if this cat has underlying cardiac disease, ( I agree that there may be some perihilar infiltrates, however it is difficult for me to see the details on your rads on my viewer), prednisone and prednisolone both can increase sodium and water retention, and push a previously asymptomatic cat into heart failure. The purulent ocular discharge and chemosis sounds like conjunctivitis.
Clinic partnership contract between a veterinarian and a technician
I can think of a lot of business related (and personal) reasons not to get into a business partnership with a non-veterinarian -- and only a scant few reasons to do so ...
I'm thinking of relocating to another part of the country after graduation: any suggestions on finding a job?
My fiance and I are considering relocating shortly after graduation. I have a few quick questions for those who were brave enough to venture out of their geographic comfort zones!

Get More From VIN! Search Tip: Increase the likelihood of your search returning the results you want by using PHRASES rather than SINGLE WORDS when you search: - Enter HEARTWORM ANTIGEN TESTS, not just HEARTWORM, if that's what you really want to search. - General terms like KIDNEY can sometimes be useful, but a more specific descriptor such as RENAL FAILURE or KIDNEY FAILURE is often more helpful. For more help and tips on searching, see Steps To A More Effective Search.
Funny Bones Things that make sense to us One of our techs told her husband that we saw a puppy that had aspirated and turned blue. He was totally perplexed, and asked her what color the dog originally was, and how it could turn blue! He was imagining the whole dog changing color like the horses in the "Wizard of Oz"!
