New On BETA.vin.com: MyCE
Now there's an easy way to keep track of your past, present and future continual education participation. Log into your VIN membership at Beta.vin.com and choose CE from the main navigation bar. Click the yellow MyCE banner to see previous, current and upcoming course registrations, view/print your certificates and keep track of credits you've earned. (NOTE: This feature is only accessible from Beta.vin.com.)

If you want the latest and greatest and want to be on the "bleeding edge" of where VIN is going, make Beta.vin.com your VIN Homepage.

Texas Farm Radio

Follow- up of Bernese Mountain dogs and other dogs with serologically diagnosed Borrelia burgdorferi infection: What happens to seropositive animals?
Antibodies against B. burgdorferi determined by whole cell ELISA and confirmed by Western blot were neither associated with the development of lameness nor with signs of renal disease like azotemia or proteinuria in dogs observed over a period of 2.5 to 3.0 years.

Effect of a xenogeneic urinary bladder injectable bioscaffold on lameness in dogs with osteoarthritis of the coxofemoral joint (hip): a randomized, double blinded controlled trial
ECM scaffolds that are harvested in a manner that allow retention of the native structure promote progenitor cell infiltration, rapid scaffold degradation, and deposition of host derived neomatrix that results in tissue remodeling with minimal scar tissue formation.

Practice security: The layered look
The most effective and unobtrusive security program includes four basic layers: procedures and policies; physical barriers; an early warning system; and telephone assistance.

Hemorrhagic diarrhea cases
All dogs presented with high temps, petechial hemmorhages on the ventrum, legs and face, bloody diarrhea, quick onset, not eating one day, then next day, becomes recumbent within the hour of starting diarrhea, and dead within 24 hours. 8 cases!!!! Most same geographical area - except this greyhound and the one pit that survived.

Oh, that red flag rule
I believe that we do a good job protecting the data we are entrusted with. But the red tape generated by this plan is going to be a mountain not a speed bump. How many practices have a written program for all employees and outside contractors to follow? Plus have generated all the necessary documentation to prove it has been followed?

Can a mother be a practice owner?
My reasons for owning a practice are to be able to practice high quality medicine, create an efficient and pleasant environment to work in, create equity in my future, and allow for flexibility in my schedule as my daughter gets older.

Incidental finding of myelolipomas associated with a splenic vein on ultrasound exam
Look long and close enough and you will see something new each day. This is one of those findings that makes ultrasonography so fascinating.
