Frequency of the mutant MDR1 allele associated with ivermectin sensitivity in a sample population of collies from the northwestern United States.
A high percentage of a sample population of Collies in Washington and Idaho are affected or carriers of the mutant MDR1 allele associated with ivermectin sensitivity...Pharmacologic treatment with ivermectin, loperamide, vincristine, and other drugs that are substrates of P-glycoprotein, the MDR1 gene product, may result in neurologic toxicosis in a high percentage of Collies.

Preclinical study of dolastatin-10 in dogs with spontaneous neoplasia.
The maximum tolerated dose varied greatly from patient to patient, but a reasonable starting dose for further studies was established at 300 microg/m(2)...The overall response rate was 3%, consisting of a complete and durable (30 months) response in a dog with high-grade malignant lymphoma that was refractory to standard therapy.

The combination of ketamine (even low doses can increase cerebral O2 requirements), excitation and the stress of mask induction/ iso related hypotension could all contribute to cortical blindness. Fortunately, most of them resolve with time.

PZP Study
The single shot PZP immunocontraceptive vaccine developed by NWRC scientists has been chosen for use in a white-tailed deer population control feasibility and efficacy trial in Cleveland, Ohio to begin in March, 2001. PZP immunocontraception produces a reversible contraception in deer lasting 1-4 years, which can be extended by reboosting.
