Are Your In-House Blood Analyzers Accurate?
Kendal Harr, DVM, MS, DACVP, and Jennifer Brazzell, DVM, PhD, DACVP want to know. Together with the Quality Assurance and Standards Committee of the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology, they've created a Quality Control Survey. Please take the survey, then attend the VIN Rounds "Quality Control of In-House Labs: What Do Your Numbers Really Mean?" on September 7 to see the results and discuss what they mean.

The relationship between number of training sessions per week and learning in dogs
Despite the fact that most domestic dogs receive some kind of training, surprisingly few studies have been undertaken to analyze the process in detail, e.g. the question of how often training should be done has not been investigated in dogs.
Dose-escalating vinblastine for the treatment of canine mast cell tumour
These data indicate that vinblastine chemotherapy may be safe to administer at higher than the traditional 2 mg m-2 dosage for dogs with mast cell tumors. Randomized prospective trials are necessary to establish whether dose escalation will translate into improved response rates when compared with the standard 2 mg m-2 dosage.
Possible influence of neighbours on stereotypic behaviour in horses
Revealing risk factors of abnormal stereotypic behaviour (ASB) in horses can help in the design of protective measures. Previous epidemiological studies indicate that social isolation, housing, management conditions, and feeding regime have a strong effect on developing ASB. The common belief that exposure to a stereotypic horse increases the risk of ASB has never been substantiated.

What to say to client who doesn't like your recommendations
How a client feels, due to something I say, is beyond my control -- as long as I've been professional. I've used the "I'm sorry you feel " line when a client expresses guilt or offense to my recommendations.

From The VINdex: Veterinary Journals Online When you SEARCH VIN, you scan nearly 2 million content items. Within this mass of information are citations and abstracts relevant to veterinary practice from thousands of clinical and biomedical journals. In the VIN Library, you'll find a complete (well, likely a few have been missed) collection of citations and abstracts (and sometimes more) from over 150 core veterinary journals. And, if you haven't yet noticed, the VINdex has changed. Now, you can access the VINDEX from almost anywhere on VIN, just hit CTRL-E on your keyboard and up it pops, front and center, on your screen.
