This best-selling, practical book on behavior therapy offers easily-accessible information in a user-friendly approach. With this essential handbook, veterinarians don't need to be behavior specialists to provide optimum care for clients with behavior problems. The 2nd edition provides at-a-glance solutions to common behavior problems, offering updated information on preventive and basic counseling advice, as well as new material on the link between genetics and behavior. All treatment protocols have been drawn from and text and compiled into a convenient appendix in the back of the book. Staff responsibilities and the team approach to behavior counseling are also discussed. Find it in the VINstore.

VP - Clients & Medications
VIN's VeterinaryPartner (VP) has a Drug section that features detailed information on commonly prescribed pet medications. The interested owner can learn how a medication works within the body, how the medication represents an improvement over previously used treatments, and what side effects to be aware of. Understanding a medication and why it was prescribed can help a pet owner understand the goals of therapy as well as possible pitfalls. You and your clients can check out the Drug section at: www.VeterinaryPartner.com

Radiographic progression of osteoarthritis of the canine stifle joint: a prospective study
The scoring system was used in a 13-month prospective study of the radiographic progression of osteoarthritis of the stifle joint, secondary to cranial cruciate ligament deficiency, in 58 dogs. In the index stifle joints all features were characterized by significant change over time, but osteophytosis had the greatest degree of change. In addition, 40% of contralateral joints showed progressive osteophytosis.

In vitro efficacy of ganciclovir, cidofovir, penciclovir, foscarnet, idoxuridine, and acyclovir against feline herpesvirus type-1
In vitro efficacy of idoxuridine and ganciclovir against FHV-1 was approximately equivalent and about twice that of cidofovir and penciclovir. Foscarnet appeared to be comparatively ineffective.

FATE in Cats--Do You Give Heparin/Aspirin & Fluids or Not?
I have no secret treatments for survival. I think that most of our increased survival coincided with the investment in the critical care/ICU staff and equipment. Basically they get better nursing care than 10 years ago. For what its worth here is how I treat these cats.

Those Hellish Clients
Any new clinic will immediately attract all the losers who have been run off by all the other hospitals within driving distance. Now that you have had enough, guess where she will go. That's right, that new clinic that just opened up the road. Don't give it a second thought.
