Newest Survey on VIN
Consumer Reports and Veterinary Medicine, take the survey, and then see what other VINners are saying.

Human toxocariasis and direct contact with dogs
T. canis eggs were found in the hair of 25 per cent of the dogs; in total, 71 eggs were recovered, of which 4.2 per cent were embryonated and 23.9 per cent were embryonating. It is suggested that dogs infected with T. canis may infect people by direct contact.

Assessment of an ECG event recorder in healthy dogs in a hospital environment
Recordings were often triggered by sinus arrhythmia, sinus tachycardia, and unclassifiable rate changes, rather than by clinically significant arrhythmias. Manual recordings might be more useful and the overall results suggest that further studies are warranted to evaluate the system in clinical cases in the home environment.

Kidney ultrastructural lesions in dogs experimentally infected with Dirofilaria immitis (Leidy, 1856)
The finding of ultrastructural changes in dogs with early prepatent infections suggests that immature heartworms, as well as microfilariae and possibly adult worms, contribute to the glomerulonephropathy.

Effects of vaccine route and dosage on protection from rabies after intracerebral challenge in mice
Vaccination route and dose number significantly influenced serum antibody responses and protection from rabies virus challenge, independent of vaccine strain origin and mouse strain, although mouse age significantly affected results.

Depo-Medrol To Treat Atopy Dogs?
A new option for itchy dogs is Genesis spray, which is triamcinolone (like Vetalog), but safer because it's topical.

Babies And Pets
The new baby takes so much time, they are too busy for the pet, then when the baby is asleep, they lavish attention on the pet to show them they still love them, too. The trick is to do the opposite and include the pets with the baby and ignore them when the baby is asleep in the other room, so they learn to associate wonderful things with the presence of the baby and love having that baby be a part of things.

"Boomerang" in the Liver
There definitely has been a tiny Australian in this abdomen. :-)

Does This Gallbladder Look Normal?
For a long time, we would ignore sludge in the GB. Now the thinking is that this may be a result of low grade infection. Many of these animals with findings such as your case respond to Actigall and ABs. I'd try it.
