Snake antivenoms: adverse reactions and production technology
An important cause of aggregate formation is long storage duration. [Antivenom] will lose activity if stored several years due to antibody denaturation, which, in turn, gives rise to an increased aggregate level.
Physiologic effects of nasal oxygen or medical air administered prior to and during carfentanil-xylazine anesthesia in North American elk (Cervus canadensis manitobensis)
Animals breathing medical air demonstrated slower inductions and recoveries, severe hypoxemia, and increased rigidity and movement. Oxygen administration reduced hypoxemia and improved anesthesia quality, but caused prolonged periods of apnea, and moderate to severe hypercarbia and respiratory acidosis.
Birth of domestic cat kittens of predetermined sex after transfer of embryos produced by in vitro fertilization of oocytes with flow-sorted sperm
We confirmed that sperm sorting technology can be applied to domestic cats and established that kittens of predetermined sex can be produced.

Possible convenia reaction?
The only thing these cats have in common is the Convenia and their subsequent clinical signs. The first cat died within hours of diagnosis (serum chemistries were all normal except for increased bilirubin; did not have a chance to get a reticulocyte count). Second cat's labs are pending.
Associate compensation
My associate now wants to go to a Pro-Sal arrangement, but I'm not sure how workable this is when the entire professional staff is myself and one associate.
Constipated diabetic cat with large hernia containing loops of feces filled intestines
Last case like this I saw was a diabetic secondary to long-standing hyperadrenocorticism which had caused the belly wall to get paper thin, then rupture.
Should technician have entered clinic after hours to euthanize injured deer?
I think poor judgment was used in this case and that there should be a consequence so that a precedent is not set. I'm just not sure what the consequence should be.

Member Benefit: The VIN Bookstore is better than ever! During the past year, visibility and promotion of the VIN Bookstore as a VIN member benefit was greatly reduced. Why? Because despite the savings available, long delivery times diminished the 'benefit'. We are happy to report that those issues have been resolved...and that once again the VIN Bookstore is truly a member benefit. VIN Members save 10% or more off the list price every day and free shipping on US orders of $90.00 or more. Please tell us what you think.
Get More From VIN! Search Tip: Increase the likelihood of your search returning the results you want by using PHRASES rather than SINGLE WORDS when you search: - Enter HEARTWORM ANTIGEN TESTS, not just HEARTWORM, if that's what you really want to search. - General terms like KIDNEY can sometimes be useful, but a more specific descriptor such as RENAL FAILURE or KIDNEY FAILURE is often more helpful. For more help and tips on searching, see Steps To A More Effective Search.
Funny Bones Dedicated to animals named Fluffy "The owner, happy that the cat is not dying, tucks him away lovingly and tells me that no way can this cat be even part Maine Coon since the breeder sold him a purebred Siamese, which is what he wanted."
