Forgotten...But Not Gone!
How many times have you forgotten where you saw that cool radiograph or interesting discussion on feline behavior and didn't know how to go back and find it? You can stop kicking yourself! Look in the Archives of the VIN Library to find previous:

Once you find that tidbit you've been searching for, be sure to click the little red heart or "Add to Mystuff" to MyStuff it! Then click MyVIN on the main navigation bar to find all your MyStuff when you need it. It's that easy!

The Heat Is On: Help Fido Keep His Cool!
Pets can be just as sensitive to high temperatures and too much fun in the sun as their human counterparts. Help your clients keep their furry family members safe and cool with these resources from Veterinary Partner!

What's the Dose?
When searching for information on drugs, one useful trick is to click the Drug Resources tab to limit your search to information from Plumb's Drug Handbook, the NAC Animal Formulary, COMPASS MSDS Sheets, the CVP Drug Label Database, the Pet Pharmacy (client handouts) and other valuable drug resources.

Find even more helpful information on the Drug Resources page in the Library.

Emerging zoonoses: The challenge for public health and biodefense
The concept of new and emerging diseases has captured the public interest and has revitalized the public health infectious disease research community. This interest has also resulted in competition for funding and turf wars between animal health and public health scientists and public officials and, in some cases, has delayed and hindered progress toward effective prevention, control and biodefense.

Unusual vaginal angiomatous neoformation in a 3-year old pug
Ectopic and dysplastic corpora cavernosa of the clitoris characterized by angiomatous proliferation, cavernous haemangioma, and vascular hamartoma were considered in the differential diagnosis. The presence of small intralesional nerves identified by S100 immunostaining was used as a diagnostic clue to classify this unusual vaginal angiomatous neoformation as vascular hamartoma.

Covering cats and dogs
Here are some questions you-and your clients-can ask about prospective pet insurance plans: Can you use any veterinarian? Does the policy cover a particular pet’s medical needs? What are the policy’s conditions/exclusions? Does it offer a multiple-pet discount? Does the plan cover any congenital or pre-existing conditions? What is the waiting period?

FIP testing
I wouldn't bother with serology at this point on the healthy cats in the household. You can do serology on the incoming cat just to see if it's positive. If negative, you could consider vaccinating it before entry.

Surprise! Cat with bullet in the nasal cavity
With a long-range shotgun blast with bird shot, usually the damage is minimal unless a vital structure is penetrated. However with slugs, there tends to be more damage.

Rock-eating frog
My technician's White's tree frog ate a rock. He is about 3 inches long and he ate a rock the size of a quarter. Is this going to be a problem? Do we need to remove it surgically? This was 4 days ago and he seems fine.

Things to consider when building
There have been a few mentions of "things I almost forgot," "Things that slowed down my opening dates," and "Do I need to do this?" and I'm in the process of building out my new clinic so running into a lot of these!

    Funny Bones:
    Embarassing exam room moments
"I had an elderly gentleman with a doxie that I saw for some problem (I can't remember what, it's been a few years). I ran into him at the grocery store a week later and he greeted me enthusiastically and said how great it was that he'd come in to see me. His bunions were much better! He was embarassed to realize I was the dog's doctor, not his."
