Brain abscesses as a metastatic manifestation of strangles: symptomatology and the use of magnetic resonance imaging as a diagnostic aid
The high incidence of neurological complications could not be explained but possibly indicated a change in virulence of certain strains of Streptococcus equi subsp. equi.
Cyclooxygenase-2 expression in canine mammary tumors
Induction of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) has been implicated in various cancers in humans. These results demonstrate for the first time that COX-2 is induced in a proportion of canine mammary tumors and that COX-2 expression is more frequent and more intense in malignant than in benign tumors, suggesting a potential role for COX-2 in canine mammary tumorigenesis.
Evaluation of once daily treatment with cyclosporine for anal furunculosis in dogs
After 13 weeks the disease in six of the dogs was in remission, 11 were controlled or improved, and seven had failed to respond.
Assessment of acid-base status of cats with naturally occurring chronic renal failure
Cats with naturally occurring CRF do not show plasma biochemical evidence of acid-base disturbances until the disease is advanced.

Teeth Cleaning Without Anesthesia
My concern is two fold: how can you tell if there is a pocket you are missing, and what untreated disease will continue to exist in the pet's mouth?
Hypokalemia In A Cat
Hypokalemia produces function and morphologic abnormalities in the kidneys (hypokalemic nephropathy). One study in experimental dogs depleted them for 51 days and found that they experienced decreases in GFR, renal blood flow, and urinary concentrating ability of about 25%.
Mast Cell Grade II - Retrospective Study
Study results suggest that additional local treatment may not be required after complete excision of grade-II mast cell tumors and that most dogs do not require systemic treatment.
Screening For HCM
The vast majority of equivocals that we call in screening clinics end up just having moderate papillary muscle enlargement. Breeders hate this diagnosis, but you just have to tell them over and over again that echocardiography is not 100% sensitive or specific for HCM.
