Clinical evaluation of a nutraceutical, carprofen and meloxicam for the treatment of dogs with osteoarthritis
Changes in the ground reaction forces were specific to the arthritic joint, and were significantly improved by carprofen and meloxicam but not by the nutraceutical; the values returned to normal only with meloxicam.
Evaluation of the effects of inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme with enalapril in dogs with induced chronic renal insufficiency
Data suggest that inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme was effective in modulating progressive renal injury, which was associated with reduction of glomerular and systemic hypertension and proteinuria but not glomerular hypertrophy.
Effects of obesity on lipid profiles in neutered male and female cats
Obese cats had insulin resistance. Plasma triglyceride and cholesterol concentrations were significantly increased in obese cats, compared with lean cats. Very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) concentrations were increased in obese cats, compared with lean cats.
Molecular cloning of the feline thymus and activation-regulated chemokine cDNA and its expression in lesional skin of cats with eosinophilic plaque
Thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) mRNA was strongly expressed in lesional skin of cats with eosinophilic plaque.

DIC in a Dog - Discussion Re: Diagnosis, Etiology
DIC cases bleed for at least four reasons: 1. Thrombocytopenia 2. Consumption of clotting factors 3. FDPs inhibiting platelet function 4. FDPs inhibiting the clotting cascade Only 1 and 3 of the above are associated with petechiae. And even then, when the DIC IS causing enough decreased platelet number or function, you still may not see petechiae. The animal has to bleed from one place first. Often bleeding occurs dermally or on mucus membranes, causing petechiae, but sometimes it will be through an respiratory, GI or urinary epithelium. I've seen DIC cases present with nose bleeds first. Eventually, sure, they will get petechiae, but not always, especially if they get better or die within a day or two of the onset of bleeding.
That Time of the Year Again: Yellow Page Ad or Not?
If you truly want to reduce the cost, you have to totally drop the ad and listings for a year. Then next year, you can start over at a new lower rate like a new customer.
Sedating Dogs for Travel: Alprazolam/Benadryl/Amitriptyline
I use alprazolam 0.05 - 0.1 mg/kg PO as needed. Shouldn't go over 4 mg/day for any size of dog.
