A Retrospective Study of Daylily Toxicosis in Cats
Cats that ingest day-lilies are at risk for gastrointestinal distress and acute renal failure. Successful treatment can be accomplished with early decontamination and aggressive fluid therapy.

Efficacy of Selamectin Administered Topically in the Treatment of Feline Otoacariosis
Selamectin was safe. Parasites were killed before day 3 and eliminated before day 17. Selamectin was 100% effective against natural aural infestations, even if erythema (26-33% of cats) and scratch reflex (23-40% of cats) persisted for 2 weeks after the cats tested negative for mites.

Evaluation of the Ability of Carprofen and Flunixin Meglumine to Inhibit Activation of Nuclear Factor Kappa B
The ability of drugs such as carprofen and flunixin meglumine to inhibit activation of nuclear factor kappa B-dependent genes such as iNOS, in addition to their effects on COX, suggests an additional mechanism for their anti-inflammatory effects.

Effect of Dietary Moisture and Sodium Content on Urine Composition and Calcium Oxalate Relative Supersaturation in Healthy Miniature Schnauzers and Labrador Retrievers
Increasing dietary moisture significantly increased total moisture intake, and reduced urine specific gravity, urinary oxalate concentration, and CaOx relative supersaturation in the miniature schnauzers. Increasing dietary Na led to production of urine with a significantly lower CaOx RSS in both breeds, indicating that sodium supplementation to dry diet formats may reduce the risk of CaOx formation.

Renal Amyloidosis, Dog
Benazepril and enalapril have different elimination pharmacokinetics. Enalapril is renally excreted, so -- as renal function declines -- you need to decrease the dose or the blood level will go up. There's always a lot of guesswork in that process. Benazapril is more liver excreted, so you don't need to keep readjusting the dose as the kidneys fail.

Florinef and Electrolyte Changes
The problem with Florinef is that some dogs seem to require gradually higher and higher doses as time goes by, to keep their electrolytes normal. As is also has glucocorticoid effects, you also then start to see Cushingoid effects, like high SAP, PU/PD, coat changes, and pot-belly. If that happens, then it's time to switch to DOCP.

Mitotane for Adrenal Disease in Ferrets
The tumor of the adrenal usually affects the reticularis layer of the adrenal cortex, causing excessive sex hormone secretion.

I Need to Put Associate on Production, but She's Not Happy
Any additional thoughts on how I can mentor her on getting her client numbers up? Her ACT is quite healthy, she just isn't seeing enough patients to keep her here at her current pay rate.
