NEW! VIN Formulary for Exotic Animals
The Formulary for Exotic Animals puts information on drugs, doses and indications for your exotic species patients at your fingertips.

Thanks to Ned Gentz, MS, DVM, DACZM, zoo/wildlife veterinarian and VIN consultant, Sharon Gwaltney-Brant, DVM, PhD, DABT, DABVT, veterinary toxicologist and VIN consultant, and the VIN exotic animal species consultants and editors for working so hard to bring this new resource to the VIN community!

Find it in the Books and Drug Resources sections of the VIN Library and in the Small Mammals, Avian, and Clinical Pharmacology Specialty Centers.

Franck’s Pharmacy: Compounded
Prescription Recall

The presence of microorganisms and fungal growth in a clean room prompted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to initiate a recall of all sterile human and veterinary prescriptions distributed by Franck’s Pharmacy from November 21, 2011 to May 21, 2012.

Read the full press release for instructions on what to do with any remaining preparations you may have and share your thoughts/experiences in the discussion on the VIN message boards.

Keep up to date on the latest recalls with the VIN Drug and Food Recall Center.

Is There an App for That?
Not exactly, but you'll think there is.

VINners are on the move and the VIN Wizards are working hard to make all VIN features mobile friendly.

Now it's easier to access VIN from your mobile device while on the go. Click here to see how to add VIN to your mobile device.

Pointing your mobile device's browser to either http://BETA.vin.com/mobile or https://www.vin.com/mobile works too. :)

Try it, you'll like it!

Just in time for the ACVIM Forum!
- Convert Proceedings Documents to PDF for Offline Viewing!

Mobile devices make it easy to stay connected to your home or business no matter where you are, but in some situations you find yourself forced to cut that tie to the world wide web. Never fear! Now you can convert conference proceedings articles to PDFs so you can view them on your mobile device even when you don't have an internet connection.

The VIN Wizards have tested this feature on iPad, iPhone, Android and Kindle Fire. If you aren't able to use this feature on your mobile device, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Note: To view PDFs on your mobile device you'll need a PDF viewer. iBooks (for iPhone/iPad) or Adobe Reader (for iPhone/iPad, Android, or Kindle Fire) are free. There are also some great and inexpensive apps that let you do more manipulation/highlighting/note-taking.

Toxicity and efficacy of a novel doxorubicin and carboplatin chemotherapy protocol for the treatment of canine appendicular osteosarcoma following limb amputation
Haematological and gastrointestinal toxicities were assessed based on information in the medical records and recorded complete blood count results. Boxers with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy: prognosis for treated dogs, antiarrhythmic drug combinations, and rationale for high vs low initial sotalol dosing
I was taught to "start low, aim high" when it comes to beta blockers, meaning I start with a dose at the low end and increase gradually to the level that controls arrhythmias without untoward side effects. However, from what I am reading, my starting dose of sotalol is quite wimpy. Should I be starting at twice that dose?
