Host feeding patterns of established and potential mosquito vectors of west nile virus in the eastern United States

Effects of a mock ultrasonographic procedure on cortisol concentrations during low-dose dexamethasone suppression testing in clinically normal adult dogs
Cortisol concentrations measured immediately after a mock ultrasonographic examination were significantly increased. Ultrasonographic procedures should be performed a minimum of 2 hours before collection of samples that will be used to measure cortisol concentrations.
Effect of topical application of diclofenac liposomal suspension on experimentally induced subcutaneous inflammation in horses
Results of this study suggest that DLS is readily absorbed transdermally and may be efficacious for reducing subcutaneous inflammation in horses.
Alterations in thyroid hormone concentrations in healthy sled dogs before and after athletic conditioning
Analysis revealed significant decreases in T4 and fT4 concentrations and a significant increase in TSH concentration for dogs in the peak training state, compared with concentrations for dogs in the untrained state. Serum concentrations of T4 and fT4 were less than established reference ranges during the peak training state for 11 of 19 and 8 of 19 dogs, respectively.

Avoiding Hypotension In Renal Disease Cats
How can I get these guys more consistently normotensive? They are on IV fluids for at least 8 hours post op as well. How fried are the kidneys getting from this transient hypotension?
Can Cats Get FeLV Via Hissing?
FeLV is a disease of friendly cats. Intimate contact, usually with saliva, is necessary for transmission other than maternal transmission. The virus is VERY efficiently transferred across the placenta and in the milk and that's how most cats acquire infection -- as kittens. Kittens are the most susceptible group. Adults develop natural resistance with age and even experimentally, by direct injection of virus, are very hard to successfully infect with FeLV.
Fractured Maxillary Canine/Open Apex: How Hard Should We Try To Save This Tooth?
Here's a 4 yr DSH with an old fracture of the right maxillary canine. Who votes for apexification, and who votes for retrofill?
Best Source To Obtain An Exotic
There was a client whose jungle cat bit the arm off her pet monkey and swallowed it. You could see the arm and hand bones in the colon of the cat on a radiograph. It would have been a good case for What Is Your Diagnosis in JAVMA. The story went on and on - the client wanted the arm surgically removed from the cat and sewn back on, the client also had an unwed pregnant teenage daughter living at home (i.e., this family was reproducing AND exposing infants to monkeys and vicious jungle cats).
