Mammary tumor recurrence in bitches after regional mastectomy
Our results show that 58% of dogs developed a new tumor in the remaining mammary glands of the ipsilateral chain after regional mastectomy for removal of a single tumor.
Biomechanical analysis of suture anchors and suture materials in the canine femur
Veterinary anchors had higher acute load to failure (ALF) in the caudal versus cranial aspect of the femoral condyle. Except for the FlexiTwist in which nylon leader line (NLL) performed better, Fiberwire and NLL both had similar cyclic performance with each veterinary anchor type. The veterinary anchors exceeded the human anchor in ALF and cycles to failure.
Choriocarcinoma with metastasis in a rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculi)
Immunohistochemistry was positive for cytokeratin in all 3 neoplastic cell types, and the syncytiotrophoblasts were positive also for human chorionic gonadotropin. Together these features allow the diagnosis choriocarcinoma. This report documents the first case of a spontaneous choriocarcinoma in a rabbit.

Testing birds in nursing homes
Some of the residents have various forms of dementia and there are the various chronic diseases of old age that may have immunosuppressive components.
Bumblefoot in rats
Radiographs of the affected paw (two views) are useful to determine the extent of inflammation before treatment, monitor treatment and provide a prognosis. Osteoarthritic and osteomyelitic footpads have a poor prognosis.
Teaching cat neuter and declaw surgeries in technician school
I just found out from the North Dakota Board that the veterinary technician school in Fargo teaches technicians to do cat neuters and declaws. Even though our practice act specifically says that a technician cannot do surgery.
Neurologically sound puppy with a broken neck
Many cervical fractures (in ambulatory dogs) are treated conservatively. However, this one looks likely to be pretty darn unstable, so I think that surgical treatment would be the best thing to do.
