Cutaneopulmonary Fistula in a Dog Caused by Migration of a Toothpick
Sinography (injection of iodinated contrast into a sinus or draining tract) or fistulography (when the result indicates a cutaneocavitary communication) is a quick, inexpensive tool to help in identifying the presence of a foreign object.
Helicobacter Infection in Humans and Animals
Peptic ulcers and gastric neoplasia secondary to Helicobacter infection are significant sequelae in humans but have not been reported in dogs and cats. It is unknown whether Helicobacter infection in dogs and cats can be eradicated with treatment, and it is uncertain which drugs are best to use.
Gastric Outflow Obstruction After Ingestion of Wood Glue in a Dog
A review of the Animal Poison Control Center's database identified 14 dogs that had ingested wood glue with the active ingredient, diphenylmethane diisocyanate. Dogs exhibited clinical signs that developed from 15 minutes to 20 hours after exposure, including vomition, anorexia, and lethargy. Eight dogs required surgical removal of the adhesive, which had expanded to form a large foreign body that extended into the pylorus or filled the entire stomach.
Evaluation of Atrial Fibrillation in Horses
The prognosis for successful conversion to sinus rhythm and rate of reversion to atrial fibrillation are inversely related to the duration of the arrhythmia and underlying heart disease.

New Grad Wages: Is Starting At 50K Too Much/Not Enough?
Has our profession gone nuts? Since when is a "recent graduate" worth $60k? Yes, I've heard all the issues regarding the cost of a modern college education and that we "should" pay a "fair" wage based on these costs, but the reality remains: a "recent graduate" is not by any measure a fully functional veterinarian yet and will not be able to generate enough gross to justify such a high salary.
Sedation Risk Equal To General Anesthesia?
In some ways, sedation may be more dangerous than general anesthesia, because with sedation you generally do not have control over some of the factors which contribute substantially to risk.
IBD: Aloe Vera And Other Treatment Options
Recent data continue to support the concept that higher doses and prolonged use of mesalamine-based drugs are therapeutically superior to lower doses and short term treatment. In addition, the combination of oral and rectal aminosalicylate formulations often succeeds in patients refractory to either used alone. The immunomodulatory drugs azathioprine and 6-mercaptopurine are particularly effective in treating both CD and UC, and methotrexate has also shown some promise in CD therapy.
