Aging Cats 2: Focus On Quality Of Life In The Elderly Cat
"Aging comes equipped with a set of cellular changes that are somewhat predictable and which need to be taken into consideration in our approach to health care, both preventative as well as therapeutic", says Margie Scherk, DVM, DABVP. Invite your staff and join her this Sunday to discuss managing cats with multiple illness, end of life and compassion fatigue. Use the Rounds link in the Main Navigation bar to join the discussions. VSPN members attend via www.vspn.org. To find out what other interesting rounds topics are coming soon, see This Week's Rounds Schedule. NEWS THAT'S FIT TO CLICK and discuss News reported for YOU... Rabbit preference for cages and pens with or without mirrors
The results suggest that the presence of mirrors offers advantages, perhaps related to comfort and welfare, and therefore might be used as environmental enrichment for fattening rabbits and advised for rabbits caged individually for long periods.
Allogrooming in cattle: Relationships between social preferences, feeding displacements and social dominance
In addition to its role in coat hygiene and potential role in reducing tension between animals competing for feed, we conclude that allogrooming may be a behaviour reflecting friendship in cows, because it is correlated to preferential associations between partners at the feeder.
The use of a mirror reduces isolation stress in horses being transported by trailer
The only significant difference between travelling with a live companion and a mirror was that the time spent turning the head round was less with a live companion.

What's in this kitten's abdomen?
I can't think of anything but foreign body for this appearance. If the clinical signs you describe persist, I can't see anything but surgery for this kitty.
Fuzzy erythrocytes
My first thought was a cellular membrane abnormality but the cells did not appear hypochromic. I have not encountered this before on a smear so I was unsure on how to classify the cells.
Dog breeds: should upgrades and outcrosses be allowed by breed registgries?
I had one of the backcross dalmatians. If I remember correctly, there were 3 litters born that year, with only 3 low uric acid dogs produced (that's genetics!). And one of *those* was bilaterally deaf.
Scheduling in a multi-doctor practice: how to get staff to schedule more appointments for me?
I'm really glad you posted. Everyone can take something useful away from this thread.
