The Winn Feline Foundation Library on VIN
The Winn Feline Foundation was established by the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA, www.cfainc.org) in 1968 to create a source of funding for medical studies to improve the health and well-being of cats. Over the years, Winn grants have helped advance veterinary knowledge in all areas of feline health.

The Winn Feline Foundation Library contains educational material, research reports and grant information.

The diagnostic accuracy of different natriuretic peptides in the investigation of canine cardiac disease
Canine N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) appears to be a useful marker of the presence of cardiac disease, although concentrations must be interpreted in the light of the patient's renal function.

Prediction of future development of canine atopic dermatitis based on examination of clinical history
The aim of this study was to identify clinical features that could be used to identify individual dogs within the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association canine population at risk of being diagnosed as atopic in the future before they had fully developed the condition.

Humor in Veterinary Medicine: You Might be a Veterinarian...

"...if your kid's teacher brings the class photos of the kittens her cat delivered, and your kid lectures the teacher that she, "should've had the cat's uterus cutted out before that could happen."

    Job search etiquette
"I know of several clinics who have been looking for a new associate for so long they've given up advertising, and they'd be more than happy to consider a new applicant -- don't take the fact that you're not seeing advertisements as an indication that a clinic isn't interested in hiring an associate."

    Figuring mark-ups
"That makes perfect sense, except that the examination fee is heavily shopped, and the dispensing fee is not. We probably have 15-20 phoneshoppers a day asking about exam fees. About every 3 months someone comments that our amoxicillin costs more than Wal-mart."
