Recovery of canine retina and optic nerve function after acute elevation of intraocular pressure: implications for canine glaucoma treatment
The canine retina has the capacity to recover at least some visual function even at 14 days after acute elevation of the intraocular pressure (IOP). More aggressive medical and surgical treatment of canine glaucomatous patients may be indicated despite complete loss of visual function, PLR, and dazzle responses in early days after development of an acute glaucomatous attack.

Assessment of melamine and cyanuric acid toxicity in cats
The purpose of this study was to characterize the toxicity potential of melamine, cyanuric acid, and a combination of melamine and cyanuric acid in cats. No effect on renal function was observed in cats fed with melamine or cyanuric acid alone. Cats dosed with a combination were euthanized at 48 hours after dosing because of acute renal failure. Urine and touch impressions of kidneys from all cats dosed with the combination revealed the presence of fan-shaped, birefringent crystals.

Skeletal lesions of histiocytic sarcoma in nineteen dogs
Histiocytic sarcoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis for aggressive periarticular, vertebral, or proximal humeral bone lesions identified on radiographs. The index of suspicion should be increased in greater than 5-year-old golden retrievers and rottweilers when a soft tissue mass is associated with the bone lesion on radiographs or myelography. Bone involvement with histiocytic sarcoma, and the rottweiler breed, was associated with the disseminated form of the disease.

What's Poyz?
I have a client with a 6 yr old MC Mix breed who wants to use Poyz supplementation to decrease anxiety in his dog. A friend of his recommended it.

Which sutures/needles?
There is truly a differnece and I tend to be "picky" when deciding what needle to use and where I am using it. Bigger is not always better when considering the diameter of the suture material.

New graduate looking for tips on how to be prepared for emergency cases
All of the fancy machines in the world will not replace a good physical exam, but remember an emergency physical exam tends to be a little different in an unstable patient.
