Mechanical Effects of High Density Polyethylene Dynamic Compression Plate Hole Inserts on Bone-Plate Constructs
The polyethylene inserts improved the interface between bone plate and screw head, resulting in decreased relative movement of the implant and bone. The polyethylene inserts also resulted in less bending of the loaded screws.
Bilateral Nodular Lymphocytic Conjunctivitis in a Horse
Equine conjunctival pseudotumor/nodular lymphocytic conjunctivitis has been reported to be unilateral and have a good prognosis after partial or complete surgical excision. This is the first reported case of bilateral nodular lymphocytic conjunctivitis in a horse and for which surgical excision alone was not curative.
Impact of Molybdenum on the Copper Status of Red Deer (Cervus elaphus)
Increasing pasture Molybdenum (Mo) concentrations from 2 mg/kg dry matter(DM) to more than 4.6 mg/kg DM significantly reduced serum and liver Copper concentrations in grazing deer. Reduced growth rate was observed at pasture Mo concentrations more than 10 mg/kg DM.
Inherited Chondrodysplasia in Texel Sheep
This chondrodysplasia differs from those previously described in sheep and is considered to be a newly-recognised, recessively-inherited genetic disease of the Texel breed. A defect in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans in cartilage matrix is suspected.
