Response to Atropine And Phenylephrine In Horner's Syndrome
In the normal eye, pupillary size is maintained by a balance of sympathetic and parasympathetic supply. When atropine is applied, the parasympathetic supply is blocked, creating an overabundance of sympathetic supply, and the pupil dilates. In Horner's, there is no overabundance of sympathetic supply, so pupillary dilation will not occur when atropine is applied to the Horner's eye.
