Psittacine beak and feather disease: a first survey of the distribution of beak and feather disease virus inside the population of captive psittacine birds in Germany
DNA was isolated from feathers of 146 symptom-free birds from 19 different genera (all psittaformes) taken from 32 independent breeders from all over Germany. The presence of BFDV was analysed by performing polymerase chain reaction assays. Fifty-eight (39.2%) samples were found to be positive for BFDV.
Acute endosulfan poisoning in cattle
Endosulfan poisoning was observed in cattle where the owner applied the insecticide topically as ectoparasitic control. Two of 11 cattle died in 2 d with rapid and difficult breathing, foamy exudates in the mouth, tremors, exophthalmos, and coma.
Effect of fenoldopam on renal function after nephrotomy in normal dogs
Bisection nephrotomy in normal dogs with renal arterial occlusion of 15 minutes and using a simple continuous capsular closure does not adversely affect renal function.
An ex vivo mechanical evaluation of single versus double semitubular plate fixation of a transverse distal-third scapular osteotomy in the dog
Single-plate fixation may be of sufficient strength for fixation of scapular body fractures.

Hindlimb Deformity, Kittens
I have seen this condition many times over the years, in several different breeds of cats. I have a collection of photos of them, and some have pretty dramatic deformation of the hind legs. A geneticist felt that it is a result of uterine position, more than anything else.
Pension Plans For Owners
I'm putting this out there for feedback as to what other practice owners are doing for their retirement plans. Our current plan seems to be too expensive and we are looking for any alternatives. We are open to suggestions.
How Fast Can Oxalate Stones Form?
Calcium oxalates, in predisposed breeds, can potentially recur rather quickly; however, 2 weeks is likely pushing it. I would guess this represents pseudorecurrence - that is, stones accidentally left in at surgery. This occurs in 15-20% of cystotomies for calcium oxalate.
Fertility In Repaired Cryptorchids
Even when bilateral cryptorchidism is repaired early, the fertility rate is really low; the damage done to the testes while in utero has long-lasting effects. However, in unilateral cryptorchids, the effect of the "outside" testicle is good enough to keep the fertility level high enough to produce offspring.
