Lunch With VIN at WVC!
There's no such thing as a free lunch! (Well ... That's not *always* true.) Are you going to the Western Veterinary Conference? If you are, join your fellow VINners for Lunch With VIN on Wednesday at WVC 2004! Find the banner on VIN's Front Page to sign up for this free lunch! If you're not able to join us for lunch, please stop by one of the 2 VIN Cyber Cafe's or the booth (#211) to say "Hi!"
What's New In VIN?
If you weren't able to attend, be sure to read the transcript of the last VIN Town Hall Meeting. New in the VIN Library are addditions to the Dental Encyclopedia: and full text journal articles: and don't forget you'll also find the: Click the Library button on VIN's main nav bar to take a look at these new items. What's new on VeterinaryPartner.com: VeterinaryPartner.com, VIN's online information resource for your clients, is always adding new content. This week we added:

Rhinitis/Bronchopneumonia Syndrome in Irish Wolfhounds
Signs included transient to persistent mucoid or mucopurulent rhinorrhea, cough, and respiratory dyspnea. Analysis of pedigrees of the Belgian, Canadian, German, and Swiss dogs revealed common ancestry, suggesting a heritable syndrome.
Use of High-Resolution Ultrasound as a Diagnostic Tool in Veterinary Ophthalmology
Imaging with high-resolution (20 MHz) probes does not typically require anesthesia or sedation and can be performed with the animal in almost any position.
Primary Tracheal Tumors in Dogs and Cats
Treatment for tracheal tumors may include surgical removal, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy, depending on tumor type and stage.
Effect of Early Enteral Nutrition on Intestinal Permeability, Intestinal Protein Loss, and Outcome in Dogs with Severe Parvoviral Enteritis
The early enteral nutrition group showed earlier clinical improvement and significant weight gain.

Uterine Flush Solutions For Aborting Mare
If a mare is assisted in delivering an aborted and rotting fetus, are there any steps (other than NSAIDs and oxytocin) that should be taken at that time?
Safety Concerns Of Administering Chemotherapy For Clinic Staff
You can obtain hoods very cheaply. I just purchased an almost new hood for $500 on E-bay and ran across dozens of others in that search. All exceed the regulations in the USA.
I'm Getting Tired Of Providing All This Free Advice To Other Veterinary Hospitals
We have found what we believe to be our solution. We have sent every vet in the region, as well as some from up to 1,000 kms away, a letter informing them that: a. after years of providing a free information service, we find it takes up too much time to do it for free any more. b. a telephone consultation of $38.50 will be charged for each telephone consultation, or alternatively a practice can take out an annual subscription of $150 which entitles them to unlimited phone advice. c. any practice referring 3 or more cases to us in a year will receive a free subscription for the following year.
AV Nodal Disease? Atropine and Heart Block
The effect of atropine on parasympathetic blockade is by competitive inhibition of muscarinic receptors. This is a dose-dependent event - if you give enough you will out-compete the ACh trying to bind to the same receptors.
