Reminder!
Many of VIN's consultants will be at the NAVC. Some are lecturing; some are recharging their smart batteries. They will be checking in on their folders as often as they can, but responses might be a bit slower than usual at times. In the long run, we'll benefit from their participation at the NAVC, because they'll bring back all that nice new knowledge to share with those of us who couldn't attend ourselves! If you are planning on attending NAVC, stop by VIN's booth (#1835-1839) and say hello. We'd love to meet you in person! Got Books? Are you looking for some new medical reference books? Check out VIN's Bookstore! We created it with your needs in mind! Click the link on VIN's Front Page to learn more.

Shoulder Lameness in Horses
The most common radiographic findings associated with osteochondrosis of the scapulohumeral joint are lytic defects of the humeral head or distal scapula, flattening of the humeral head, and periarticular bone formation along the caudal border of the scapula.
Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency: Presence of the Cys36Ser Beta-2 Integrin Mutation in an Affected US Irish Setter Cross-Breed Dog and in US Irish Red and White Setters
Canine leukocyte adhesion deficiency (CLAD) is a primary immunodeficiency disease characterized by recurrent bacterial infections in the presence of marked leukocytosis. Seven of 54 dogs tested (13%) were found to be carriers of the Irish Setter CLAD mutation. Five of these were directly related to a sire from the UK, demonstrating the importation of an allele from another continent and establishing the need for genetic testing in this breed in the United States.

Canine Cases Of West Nile
It has now been recognized, first by the case in Illinois and now from Louisiana that WNV can apparently cause neurologic disease in dogs in the US.
Wacko Clients
As we move forward in practice, we have more clients. Period. At a 1% wacko rate, if you see 100 clients a week, you'll get 1 wacko a week. Same percentage, but 500 clients a week, you see a wacko a day.
