Browse the Veterinary Journals!
When you SEARCH VIN, you scan nearly 2 million content items.

Included in the VIN journal collection are the complete (well, likely a few have been missed) collection of citations and abstracts (and sometimes more) from over 150 core veterinary journals.

In addition, the VIN librarians work hard to aggregate citations and abstracts, relevant to your patients and practice, from thousands of clinical and biomedical journals.

Most articles have an author summary, along with the rest of the bibliographic information. A growing number of the top veterinary articles per year also have companion interpretive abstracts containing more of the "meat" you crave and need.

Whenever possible, if the article is in the public domain or the author has given their permission, the full text version or a link to it is made available.

If the full text version is not available, it can still be ordered for a small fee (thanks to an arrangement with the UC Davis Carlson Health Sciences Library) through the Document Delivery System. Use the 'Order this Article' button under 'Article Tools' on the right hand side of the page.

The VIN librarians continuously reevaluate the veterinary journal list. If you have journals you'd like added to the list of core veterinary journals, please email Becky@vin.com with your suggestions.

Like Music To Your Ears!
If you miss a VIN Rounds and don't have time to read the transcript, now you can listen to it when it's convenient for you! Listen from your computer or download it to your iPod or other MP3 player.

While they may not feature guitars or violins, VINcasts will be music to your ears.

And if the voice sounds familiar, it's our own Nate Lissant. He scripts, records and edits the VINcasts. Let Nate know what you think.

Need Articles For Your Clinic Newsletter? Look No Further!
The Newsletter Article Bank is here to help you. Thanks to VINners' contributions, this growing collection of articles is available for use in your clinic's newsletters.

Contribute to the Newsletter Bank
The Newsletter Bank accepts deposits as well as withdrawals! Contribute your articles for others to share. To deposit an article, please send a Word or Notepad document (or send a link to it) to Phyllis DeGioia at Phyllis@vin.com (That's what VIN is all about - for veterinarians, by veterinarians!)

NOTE: Before sharing or re-publishing any other VIN content, please be sure to check the VIN community's Privacy Policy -- generated by the VIN Community, for the VIN Community -- or contact VINgram@vin.com to learn the proper procedures for doing so.

Clinical neurology of ferrets
Neurology represents an important specialty within ferret clinical medicine. Veterinarians should become familiar with the unique anatomic and physiologic differences between ferrets to improve their management of theses cases.

Genetic characteristics of infectious bursal disease viruses from four continents
Following the initial discovery of very virulent infectious bursal disease virus (vvIBDV) strains in Europe, these viruses spread to many parts of the world. In this study, we examined the phylogenetic relationship of never-before-published IBDV from 18 countries on four continents.

The avian neurologic examination and ancillary neurodiagnostic techniques: a review update
Physical and neurologic examinations that evaluate cranial nerves, postural reactions, and spinal reflexes identify neurologic dysfunction and the corresponding anatomic location of the lesion. Ancillary diagnostic tests, such as cerebrospinal fluid analysis, diagnostic imaging, muscle and nerve histology, and electrodiagnostics, are tools to confirm and clarify conclusions from the neurologic examination and to identify the cause of disease. Once the disease location and pathologic process have been identified, appropriate treatment and prognosis may be provided.

The neurological examination and lesion localization in the companion rabbit (Oryctolagus Cuniculus)
This article presents the neurological examination of the rabbit, followed by a practical guide to lesion localization in this species.

Cougar with rotten tooth
Saw a 6 year old cougar last night that was losing weight, reduced appetite, yet eating. In his mouth, the upper right canine tooth was flush to the gum line with a foul odor. Attempting to pull the tooth, we found it was just a shell with a fragile gel-like matrix. We removed as much as we could and we got pus coming out of the right nostril.

Prosthesis: you have to see this!
I am posting this just for interest sake. It has been a fun case to work on. The patient is a 2 yr old miniature horse. She got into trouble with a fence and a racoon and her foot became devitalized. The first photo is after all her other wounds had healed but the left hind foot was in bad shape. The entire leg from mid pastern was necrotic. This is after she sloughed her hoof capsule.

Fire employee with attitude issues
Why take *any* attitude? Don't tolerate it, unless you want to feel the way it makes you feel every day she continues to be employed by you.
