WTC Disaster Animal Relief

Help the Suffolk SPCA with its disaster relief efforts!
Learn how you can help the K-9 rescue dogs and the pets of the deceased WTC inhabitants.

The Suffolk County SPCA needs your help!

The Suffolk County SPCA is the only authorized SPCA humane agency currently operating a mobile animal hospital command post for every search and rescue dog at "ground zero" at the World Trade Center disaster site. The Suffolk County SPCA was mobilized on Tuesday, September 11th, on the day of the World Trade Center disaster, in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), City Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and VMAT (Veterinary Medical Assistance Team), which is a federal veterinary disaster unit run by the United States Public Health Administration.

The SCSPCA's command post is adjacent to the Mayor's command post, and it is operating its unit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with its all volunteer staff.

The Suffolk SPCA is funded solely by private donations and receives absolutely no money whatsoever from the NYC ASPCA.
