• Rural Area Veterinary Services
  The Humane Society of the United States' Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) is a non-profit program that brings free veterinary services to under-served rural communities. In 2005, the program's four full-time veterinarians, and more than 700 volunteers, provided veterinary care for animals in over 80 communities.
• Searchable Database Of Funded Research
  The American Kennel Club's Canine Health Foundation maintains a listing of grants made for research into animal health issues. You can search by disease, institution, breed, researcher, etc. There is also a listing of requests from researchers for samples and clinical trials.
• The Sports Medicine Program
  The faulty from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine is involved in studying injuries, diseases, nutritional factors and physiologic functions of dogs and horses involved in field sports and working endeavors.
• Therapeutic Techniques
  Small animal diagnostic and therapeutic techniques demonstrated and explained by Dr. Cheryl R Dhein of Washington State University. Note: A few of the links require a user name and password. Use guest for both. In some cases I had to enter it four times before the system let me in.

  The UC Center for Animal Alternatives places special emphasis on disseminating up-to-date information concerning alternatives to using animals in public and private education.   This American Kennel Club (AKC) site contains links to pages about: which breeds are banned by which companies, tips on preventing dog bites, contact information for government representatives and state insurance commissioners. Site also reviews the AKC's national, regional, and state lobbying efforts directed toward legislation pertaining to dogs and dog ownership.

  Objectives of OIE are: to guarantee the transparency of animal disease status world-wide, to collect, analyze and disseminate veterinary scientific information, to provide expertise and promote international solidarity for the control of animal diseases, and to guarantee the sanitary safety of world trade by developing sanitary rules for international trade in animals and animal products.

  The Shelter Medicine Program is a collaborative approach between the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and animal shelters, shelter managers, and shelter veterinarians. Among other things their objective is to help improve the quality of life of animals in shelters through improvements in veterinary preventive medicine and management of disease.
