- Rural Area Veterinary Services
The Humane Society of the United States' Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) is a non-profit program that brings free veterinary services to under-served rural communities. In 2005, the program's four full-time veterinarians, and more than 700 volunteers, provided veterinary care for animals in over 80 communities.
- Searchable Database Of Funded Research
The American Kennel Club's Canine Health Foundation maintains a listing of grants made for research into animal health issues. You can search by disease, institution, breed, researcher, etc. There is also a listing of requests from researchers for samples and clinical trials.
- The Sports Medicine Program
The faulty from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine is involved in studying injuries, diseases, nutritional factors and physiologic functions of dogs and horses involved in field sports and working endeavors.

This American Kennel Club (AKC) site contains links to pages about: which breeds are banned by which companies, tips on preventing dog bites, contact information for government representatives and state insurance commissioners. Site also reviews the AKC's national, regional, and state lobbying efforts directed toward legislation pertaining to dogs and dog ownership.

Among other things their objective is to help improve the quality of life of animals in shelters through improvements in veterinary preventive medicine and management of disease.
