COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide veterinary practitioners with a usable diagnostic approach to the common problem of nasal disease. The common causes of acute and chronic nasal disease in the dog and cat will be reviewed, and then a standard diagnostic approach will be discussed. While both simple and advanced diagnostic tests will be covered, the emphasis will be on tests that are feasible for the general practitioner. Treatment options for the various common nasal diseases will be briefly reviewed. Two interactive sessions, with accompanying lecture notes, will be supported by a set of overview text slides and images of diagnostic procedures.
COURSE OUTLINE:
WEEK 1 - Discussion will center on the common causes of nasal disease, and the standard non-invasive diagnostic approach to these diseases, including a standard method of doing a thorough physical examination of the nose, nasal radiography, and rhinoscopy.
WEEK 2 - The second session will focus on nasal biopsy techniques, and then move on to various therapeutic options.
