Level and Prerequisites: This basic course will be open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists actively interested in large animal necropsy techniques, lesions, and post-mortem changes. MULT214-0717: Basic Necropsy Techniques is a prerequisite for this course.
VIN CE Course: Open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists. This course is approved by RACE for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/technologists. (RACE 22-29874)

Course Information:
This course is designed to familiarize the attendee with large animal necropsy specifics, common post-mortem changes, the meaning of pattern in lesion recognition and types of lesions. By the end of the course, the attendee should be able to recognize common lesions, exudates, form a morphologic diagnosis and perform large animal necropsy.

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required to earn a certificate of completion for the course. Course Materials: Course materials will be available in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Eric Snook graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He practiced in a small animal general practice and emergency clinic in California prior to completing a residency in pathology at LSU in 2009. He completed his PhD in biomedical science at Tulane University in 2013. Currently he is a staff pathologist at Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) in College Station, Texas and receives specimens ranging from food animals to small animals, reptiles, and amphibians as part of his daily case load.

  1. Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
  2. Each enrollee must be able to receive emails from @vspn.org and @vin.com addresses. Email is our major form of communication with participants; personal emails are highly recommended rather than clinic/hospital email addresses.
  3. Each person is individually responsible for his/her own registration. To ensure that all information received is secure and correct, please do not enroll for a course on behalf of another individual.
